If success leaves clues…what are you leaving behind?
I can follow some people by the stench they leave behind. Not the stench of failure mind you, but the stench of non-collaboration. A near pure refusal to work with anyone unless they get to control the situation or the project.
I worked with a guy, I dare say I called him a friend, who had a plethora of good ideas but not have a pot to piss in. His ideas, in the right hands, could have made him some real money. He kept the some well guarded if he told you about them you were lucky to only heard a quarter of it, and certainly not enough to invest in. Every time you got close to figuring it all out he would clam up and not give another bit of information. His excuse was that he got burned a time or two and he was not willing to let that happen again. He was never willing to chance it, even in the face of true intentions.
To this day, he still lives in a basement apartment dreaming up good to great ideas with just the right people could really blossom into something worthwhile.
There are still others that dwell in “no help for you” land. They do not promote, but show up to critique and complain. They question the motives of others, the validity of the message, but offer no other true alternative other than more gripes and groans. Time and time again, others reach out only to be rebuffed and driven away. It was truly his way or the highway.
Then there are those that trip over themselves to help. Often giving more than they will ever get back. A helping hand when you are down, a word of advice or that every helpful hint at what you are seeking when you seem to be at wits end. They leave clues to their success, a way of paying it forward if you will. Their hard work which is really working smart. They build a team of like minded people all working for one or similar goals.
They quietly achieve success, others not so quietly…but both getting there
Success leaves clue, what are you leaving
